Committee Descriptions

 

 

Admissions:

Sell and issue daily tickets and check tickets/credentials at admissions gates.

Caddie Hospitality (1a, 1b):

Manage caddie registration, distribution and collection of caddie bibs and provide information as needed. Volunteers on this committee will not serve as caddies during the tournament.

Course Evacuation:

Provide assistance to players, caddies, walking scorers, rules officials and standard bearers seeking shelter during a threatening weather situation or suspension of play.

Golf Carts (1a, 1b):

Control inventory and distribution of golf carts to authorized personnel.

Marshals (3):

Ensure players are not disturbed during play and enforce crowd control and golf etiquette among spectators.

Media Centre:

Responsible for assisting the media staff in the Media Centre during Tournament Week.  Duties include administrative duties in Media Registration and dissemination of media information.

Merchandise: Assist with various functions inside Merchandise area such as operating cash registers and customer service.

Parking/Traffic: (1a, 1b): To implement the Tournament’s parking and busing plan.

Player Registration/Hospitality: Duties include welcoming players and providing them with necessary credentials plus general information about the tournament, Grey Silo and the surrounding area.  Organizing the Player Lounge and stocking with any required product and ensuring only individuals with proper credentials enter the Player Area.

Product Distribution (1a, 3): Stock and deliver on-course refreshments to tee boxes and distribute pairing sheets. May require heavy lifting.

Practice Areas: Manage the operation of the practice range and all other practice areas.  Duties include distributing range balls and placing the appropriate nameplate to identify each player. 

Pro-Am: Responsible for managing the operation of the Pro-Am Competition. Duties include gift bag assembly and distribution and registration of amateur players.

Scoring Central/Communications: Establishes communication between all committees, assisting with scoring of the tournament and oversees that official scorecards are properly handled. When players complete their rounds, the signing and attesting of the scorecards is an important procedure.  Some radio & computer knowledge is required.

Shuttles: Provides on – course shuttle service for players and volunteers needing transportation.

Special Events: Organize and plan the details and logistics for any events associated with Tournament including on-site Junior Clinic. 

Sponsor Hospitality: Act as liaison and host to corporate clients in various hospitality areas including welcoming guests and ensuring proper credentials are displayed before entering hospitality areas.

Standard Bearers: Responsible for carrying a two-sided scoring standard displaying how each player stands with respect to par, both in the round being played and cumulatively.

Transportation (1a, 1b, 2): Receive, inventory and control issuance of courtesy cars. Meet players, officials and designated guests at airport and assist them with their transportation needs. Drive shuttle vehicles between hotels and course for players’ family members, officials and designated guests. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

TV Spotters: Assist The Golf Channel in updating scoring information for TV Coverage. 

Volunteer Services (1a): Responsible for the operation of the Volunteer Headquarters (VHQ) during Tournament Week. Assist with set-up for all orientation sessions and volunteer uniform distribution and exchange.

Walking Scorers: Record accurate hole-by-hole information for each player in group and transmit this information to Scoring Central via handheld computers.  Must have thorough knowledge of golf, be comfortable working with handheld computer and be able to walk 18 holes regardless of weather conditions.

 

1a. Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:30 am.

1b. Evening shifts may end at late at 9:00 pm.

2.   This committee could be operational for approximately 10 days; before, during and after the tournament.

3.   Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
